COVID Project
Objective:
Design a product that helps with the adverse effects of the COVID pandemic.
Area of interest:
Sleep
Issue:
Online work and isolation due to COVID has led to a rise in stress, pushing people to adopt unhealthy habits to deal with the stress and conduct work.
Light has a great influence on our sleep cycle and increased exposure to blue light from a screen can have negative impacts on our sleep.
Design Goal:
Create a circadian light to help reset one's circadian rhythm to improve their sleep and overall well-being.
Final Product:
Sol is a wall-mounted light that mimics the cycle of the sun and moon throughout the day to help those in quarantine isolation break unhealthy sleeping habits and reestablish routines. The light peaks at 12:00 and sets at 6:00, completing four trips a day.
The u-shaped mounting brackets located at the top and bottom of the frame are hidden when viewed from the front and help elevate the light off the wall to keep the wheels from touching the wall while traveling. The light is easy to assemble and can even be mounted horizontally
