Air Appliance Project
Objective:
Select an air-producing appliance to reverse engineer and design a new and improved version of it.
Product of interest:
Aroma diffuser
Aroma diffusers are small devices that disperse essential oils with water vapor and are often used for relaxation. Aroma diffusers require several steps to set up...
Research:
I took apart a basic aroma diffuser to study the internals and get a better understanding of how the diffuser works. After studying the internals I found that they could be condensed into an even smaller body.
Issues with this aroma diffuser:
-Obtrusive body which is large for small internals
-Top is not secure and can easily fall off with little effort
-Opening on top is angled and only allows a small amount of vapor to escape in one direction
-Wide form is difficult to grab
-Can only be placed on a flat surface
Design Goal:
Design an aroma diffuser that is easy to use, unobtrusive, and requires fewer steps to set up.
Features to add:
-Unibody form for simplified design and use
-Adjustable handle for easy handling and portability
-Small body for easy storage
-Translucent window for a visible water gauge
-Adjustable top with vents for volume control of vapor and easy refill
Final Product:
Myst is a small aroma diffuser that utilizes cool mist to disburse essential oils throughout your home. It's adjustable vents and translucent water tank allow for easy filling and an adjustable handle for easy handling and portability.
Myst's vents allow for easy filling in 3 simple steps...
